Leighs Construction Limited’s Shareholders have announced the appointment of Albert Brantley and Sinead Horgan as Non-Executive Directors for the company. Albert and Sinead join the company on the 1st of July 2022.
Current Board Chair Mark Darrow is departing Leighs having completed his term. Leighs Construction has benefitted greatly from the significant advancement of governance that Mark has led during his time with the company, including through the difficult Covid period and the appointment and transition to a new CEO. The shareholders are sincerely thankful for Mark’s leadership.
Albert will be appointed Chair from
1 July 2022. Albert has an extensive and impressive governance and executive career spanning across government, energy, agriculture and transport. Throughout his career, Albert has delivered numerous large-scale and complex infrastructure projects, experience which will be invaluable in his role with Leighs.
Albert first worked with Leighs in his capacity as CEO Otakaro and says “I am very pleased to have the opportunity to work again with Leighs Construction, which occupies an enviable position in New Zealand’s construction sector based on an outstanding record of delivery and excellent stakeholder and employee relations. I am particularly honored to be selected as Chairman to help my fellow Directors and Management lead the next stage of growth and development of the Company.
Sinead will be appointed Chair, Audit and Risk, a role for which she has significant experience. Sinead qualified as a Chartered Accountant and has previously held Senior Executive roles at the ANZ and BNZ banks before embarking on a governance career where she has held board appointments in the banking, construction, insurance, manufacturing and IT sectors. Sinead has chaired the audit and risk sub-committees on the majority of her board appointments. Sinead says “I am delighted with the opportunity to work with Leighs Construction. It is a company I have long admired as I watched the rebuilding of Christchurch. Their reputation for quality in everything they do precedes them. I look forward to working closely with the team as we see in the next stage of evolution for Leighs.”

Albert and Sinead will join Anna Cassells-Brown, Brian Nightingale, Paul Duffy and Anthony Leighs, making up a strong and highly capable Board of Directors of Leighs.
